There is definately a tilt alarm, Ive triggered it several times by jacking before unlocking the car :y

Assume it is alarmed, its about 10 mins work to get down to the powersounder...
Wipers and scuttle off.

Given its going to the scrappy, I would revise that to 1 minute to smash through the scuttle to get to the sounder, 1 x 10mm? nut to remove, and a bucket of water.  Job done.

Thanks Jimbob, great idea! Whats the best way to smash through it though? I do have a sledge hammer handy, but I don't want to mess around making noise and wasting time doing it all wrong - I have experienced some plastics that simply refuse to break however flimsy they may look! :)

Just one last question, assuming the powersounder is dead to being with, that would mean it shouldn't go of if when I break the window anyway, right? Or is the powersounder separate from the alarm?

tilt alarm is on the f/l at least.  Possibly came in with the stupid f/l boot release.

Coincidentally my mig was on a ferry at the weekend, I dutifully locked it without setting the alarm (one press on the remote not two as per the manual). I was sat above looking down loving at it, as you do, and I noticed the hazards going off.  No alarm, just the hazards.  Bit odd????

I would be going in with hammer and chisel at around the drain point.

If the power sounder is already dead, only the main alarm will sound (until you remove the battery)

dbdb - one press or 2 makes no odds, your alarm is set either way, only way to not set is to manually lock the doors using the buttons.  Pressing the running man switch probably disables tilt too, it certainly disables ultrasonics.  Your powersounder and Main alarm horns are broken :y  Hence hazzards only.

Not according to my owners manual p 59:

"Vauxhall alarm system
To activate:
All doors, windows and sun roof 3 must be
closed; press button p on the remote
control unit again within 10 seconds after
locking"
The second press flashes the hazards.

The running man switch does exclude monitoring of the passenger compartment and the vehicle  tilt (same page).

I thought the main alarm horn was the horn? My horn works.  Oh yes.

My powersounder is long removed.

The double press ONLY activates deadlocks.  Trust me :y

The alarm horn is next to the power sounder horn, separate front the car horn which you can disconnect by kneeling by the car :y not very secure otherwise ;)

Fingers crossed!

It does indeed say on page 59 of the owners manual that a 2nd push of the key within 10 secs of locking activates alarm.  I agree with Jimbob that practically this is not the case (manual appears to be wrong) and that car alarms when locked on first press (hazards flash once and the interior led comes on and flashes after a short delay).  As said second press within 10 secs activates deadlocks.  This was the same on mfl and fl models (don't know re pre f/ls, never had one).

Proved when I forgot to deactivate internal motion & tilt sensor (locking/alarming as usual with one press only) and dog left in car set alarms off.

As said alarm horn is seperate from main horns, and is under scuttle, drivers side.

This thread was helpful &  I now realise I have a problem when locking the car with my key.
So as I turn the key the central locking works correctly, but my alarm does not activate ???

With the window down slightly holding & turning the key fully anti-clockwise should trigger the window to close & that isn`t working either. But all these features work if I use my key buttons.  My c/l motor was on the fritz last year, so I followed the guides & put in a new part. but I `ve missed something surely. ???
