Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can go about doing this? I've been given till tomorrow to get rid of the car as its been there for over a month now and should have gone weeks ago.

I'm stomped. All the help I can get is appreciated.

Thanks guys!

I'd have thought that the steering lock & lack of key would have been more of a concern than the alarm.  :-\ :-\

That was my first concern however the steering is not locked and I left the gear in N intentionally. Worst case I'd have to slowly push the car back and forth with the steering tilted to the left slightly, hopefully it won't lock it. This is so it would line up with the tow truck.

If you last locked the car with the key only, then I`m betting the alarm will not sound.

Either way as soon as the car is lifted that too will trigger the alarm.

I proved that to myself when I started jacking up the car witout first unlocking with the key fob button. :o

I hope so. I know for a fact I locked the car with the key as the fob never worked half the time (dead battery probably.)

If I use the key itself to lock the car, does that mean the alarm is disabled for sure or are you guessing? :)

Wrong.  ;) ;)

It must've been a fluke, because there's no tilt alarm on an Omega  ::) :y

.... hopefully it won't lock it. This is so it would line up with the tow truck.

Fingers crossed then, because by rights it should lock. If it does, apparently a couple of plastic bread trays can be useful.  ;) ;)

Do you mean I have to break the steering lock?

You could do if you want.  ;)
No, apparently, when the recovery lads want to drag a car up on to their flat bed that has a steering lock on, they put a plastic bread tray (the kind that goes into the back of the delivery vans) under each wheel & then just drag the car up. The trays then just skid up the flat bed.  :y

this what my handbook says regarding tilt alarm

Switching system on excluding
moni toring of the passenger
compartment and the vehicle tilt
e.g. if animals are to be left in the vehicle.
1. Close boot lid/tailgate and bonnet.
2. Press button Ä. LED flashes (for a
maximum of 10 seconds); see page 61.
3. Close doors.
4. Switch on Vauxhall alarm system. LED
lights up. After approx. 10 seconds the
system is activated, without monitoring
of the passenger compartment or vehicle
tilt. LED flashes until system is switched
off.
6

re arming the alarm

To activate:
All doors, windows and sun roof 3 must be
closed; press button p on the remote
control unit again within 10 seconds after
locking
– or –
turn key in d iver's door lock towards rear
of vehicle again within 10 seconds after
locking, then turn it back to the vertical
position and remove.

Haha, pure genius! :)

On a side note. Can anyone confirm if the car actually has tilt sensors or not? If not then first thing would be to jack the car up and take out the cats, then last resort would be to break the window to get my bits and bobs out after it goes on the truck. That way he can drive off with it right away and I'd save myself a headache.

There is definately a tilt alarm, Ive triggered it several times by jacking before unlocking the car :y

Assume it is alarmed, its about 10 mins work to get down to the powersounder...
Wipers and scuttle off.

Given its going to the scrappy, I would revise that to 1 minute to smash through the scuttle to get to the sounder, 1 x 10mm? nut to remove, and a bucket of water.  Job done.
