2.2cd auto
« on: 22 August 2012, 21:00:31 »

Car had just had engine replaced. It now won't change gear when it is in drive? It pulls away in a high gear and stays in it. The gears seem ok when selecting 1-2-3 but won't change in drive? The lights are also flickering on and off at the gearstick? Gearbox oil is fine?

I will give that a try. Would this cause the car to stay in one gear? The lights seem asif they dont know what's going on they light up the wrong bulbs on the gearstick and all come on and off at once?

Thanks for your help its much appreciated.

AFAIK selector tells ecu which gear/mode to put box in,  if not sending right info you get wrong operation. if it's still doing it after clean add to thread. Andy might beat me to it next time  ;D ;D

Took off the selector and cleaned it up with some switch cleaner today. Broke 5 of the 7 bolts holding the unit together! After a bit of drilling and scrubbing I put it back together, stuck it back on the car and its going fine now. Cheers for the advice. Now onto the heater bypass valve then a right good polish. The joys.
