Is the Joint Operations Station still in operation or was it decommissioned ??? I know there were rumours that the actual rock it hollow to hold munitions and the spying equipment, although the alleged nuclear capable munitions was a myth

A huge amount of The Rock is hollow. Over the years and centuries many tunnels and caverns have created for many purposes, but mostly military. It's actually a bit suprising that it stands up on it's own  ;) Visitors to the Rock can walk though quite a few of them.

Love to do a trip down there on the bike, sail into Santander, then bike down to Gibralter and back.

I assume where the Spanish government is targeting Gibraltar their economic meltdown is now approaching the level of Argentina's, so they are trying to divert the populations attention for the same reasons.  ::) ::) ::)

As always in the history of World politics Rods2.  Nothing changes, and this is a classic example of that manoeuvring.

This morning Royal Navy rowing boat (task force?) are on their way to Gibraltar for their usual "naval exercises at this time of the year" as quoted by the BBC.  :D :D :D :D :y

Fixed. ;D

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  Trust you! ;D ;D ;D ;D

No, this is a task force which the BBC lists as follows:

"The group includes HMS Bulwark, HMS Illustrious, HMS Montrose and HMS Westminster. Helicopter carrier HMS Illustrious departed from Portsmouth on Monday morning and will join the navy flagship HMS Bulwark, which has sailed from Devonport.

HMS Westminster will be stopping over in Gibraltar, accompanied by the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships Lyme Bay and Mounts Bay."

I do not think anyone, let alone the Spanish, will challenge that if push comes to shove! :D :D :D ;)

2 x Apache gunships spotted over Pompey harbour, last Friday evening. Both circled over the harbour & landed in the vicinity, either Fleetlands Gosport or the carrier ???
