Hehe, also I just checked. It is solid pine  :P
Laminate doesn't mean 'covered in plastic', it means 'layerered'. 1-2 mm of real pine can cover a nice stable chipboard base quite convincingly... ::)
I know the type he has, and £20 5 years ago is about right. You can dig a fingernail in.

You can find similar style/quality in that pikey store who's name escapes me...  ...the place I get my gas camping cylinders from now

£15/19, which ever. It was what I had to spend, it's still being used today. Nothing has broken, it's not fallen to bits. It's been in daily use, survived parties along with being chucked in a van twice and lugged around. Shed loads of boxes stacked on it in the van, also in garage while stored for couple of months, still going strong. So I personally consider that a successful purchase & far from shite  ;)

When it was nice and new, incidentally, it still looks the same  ::)

What sort of party food is that tunnie  :o :o .....carrots, celery, twiglets and a few crisps with some dips.... please dont send me an invite  ;D ;D

Also ironic is Ikea stuff is DIY, much like Omega servicing.

Looks like its been made from a load of matchwood :P offcuts. Each to their own, as long as you are happy, that is all that matters.  :y

I personally prefer solid hardwood with oak or mahogany my preferred choices. You only make or buy them once as they last more than a lifetime.

Never been to an Ikea, very unlikely to, so can't comment.

Says the man whom paid dealer prices for his used px'd Daewoo, and gave KwickTit £180 for an oil change.

Good job ;D

Is it cold weird and devoid of daylight.... or humour?  Because it's no joke you know.

How to become a nimby I wonder?

Nope.  Although judging by the mutterings and cursing from Mrs TB, I suspect she has been there. I chose to avoid the subject, far safer that way...
