The NHS is unfortunately totally abused & has been for years , I spent 10 years in the LAS 69-79 I would guess that 70 percent of our call red accident shouts were total rubbish, I have caught snippets of the odd Ambulance programmes that are on at present & appears nothing has changed in that time, if people were charged they would think twice about wasting highly trained professionals time in the NHS.

The NHS can't cope with two things at once. It's never been able to.

It's always too much flu, or too hot, or too icy, or too expensive, or not enough staff... ::)
So we'll try to stop it having to cope with two things at once. Glad you're coming round.

I'm not particularly. If they're short of beds, they might consider using the ones they spent last spring setting up.

Lurching from one crisis to the next isn't a solution or sustainable.

Think that they dismantled most of them?  ???

Although the one that they built in an ex-Homebase store in Exeter is still there and used as some sort of cancer triage centre.  :y

Equipment is relatively easy to obtain; you just throw (newly printed) money at the problem and someone somewhere will be happy to supply what you want, for a price.

The bigger problem is the staff to man these new beds/wards/hospitals, which you can't just magic up from nowhere. There is a 7 year lead time for doctors, and 4? year lead time for nurses. I believe there is also a government imposed cap on the number of available places at University for Doctors and Nurses courses, so the supply can't be increased quickly anyway.

You're right, there is a cap and mostly because it is cheaper to steal trained doctors and nurses from other usually poorer countries, who do invest in their own youngsters only to see them disappear off to countries like Britain and the US.  ::)

The other problem is getting people who want to deal with the public in stressful situations , because of the way staff are treated by the great British public ( majority who appear to be morons) that's why NHS staff are leaving .
