That was Don Lang (& his music)
Lang was a trombone player as I recall
(I was a little bit older than you & remember the program well (Pete Murray, Josephine Douglas, Little Laurie London, Mike & Bernie Winters, Wee Willie Harris.......

I seem to remember Bert Weedan was on that show  as I was fascinated with his guitar playing, as it was the first time I had heard and seen such a thing!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Although mum used to let me watch that wonderful opening footage and song, not much else registered with me. ;) ;)

.and like so many others I bought Weedons' book 'Play in a day'.......
