Yep, lowering the diff is the easiest for defo.  I did mine about a fortnight ago.  I asked the question here and followed the reply. Took longer to jack up and support the car on axle stands than it took to change the springs.
 
As for lowering the suspension...yes, a lowered Miggy with 17"+ alloys looks awesome and handles real nice for a big old barge but you'll need to get the geometry set up properly or you'll wear through the inner sides like the tyres were made of butter.
