Many Thanks Jimbob.

Does anyone have any ideas on the labour time/cost of the ATF change?

Can anyone recommend someone to do this job, would anyone on the forum be interested?

Many Thanks

Paul.

VX will charge about £70 (labour only)  to change ATF but make sure you get a fixed price as they do not do this job very often and sometimes struggle getting the sump back for some reason. Change filter as well. You will find various prices on here - VX even on trade club is a little expensive - but may be the best option if you need to do job quickly. VX will only drop out old ATF that is immediately within 2 sump pans - so replacement will be around 5L to 6L.

Obviously if you can be there when they check level and it is low you may get away with top up. Just had to do mine at almost 90000.

If the 'thud' is between 2rd &3rd as you agree, you could well require a new '2nd to 3rd solenoid'.
I had the same type of problem even after replacing the ATF and cleaning the filter, replacing the solenoid sorted the problem - many thanks to Forum members.
Omega's are excellent cars, well worth taking the time to understand them.

A 'forum member' sent me a 'used' solenoid for free, many thanks  :y  to buy from GM they are about £80.
If you are able to drop the large 'auto' sump then remove the filter, the solenoid is the one close to the centre line of the gear box, easy to replace.
It is a design fault of a other wise excellent auto box.
If you want a photo of the auto box and solenoid send me a PM with your email address.
