Should have also added, idealy you need VAG Com or similar to reset the commencement of timing value in the ECU.

What year is it?
its a 96, and remember its the Audi (longetudinal engine, despite FWD) rather than other VAGs (transverse).

As its Mrs TheBoy's Dad's car, I have little say in whether I am doing it or not  :-X

longitudanal and FWD - how weird
Its an Audi thing...  ...like mounting the longitudinal too far forward to bugger up handling (and make access difficult to front)

SOunds like the engine should be pushed back then connected to the correct wheels!

Renault used to use the same arrangement with the box ahead of the engine on small cars and behind on larger ones.

My diff pinion seal does need doing....  ;)

Not realy a job for a cambelt party....unless you want to do it!

Cant see Tunnie being able to undo the pinion nut, unless someone else gets hold of his legs and pulls.   ;D
