Idle problem

Hi,
I have problem with my car on idle.
for example.
when i driving and go to neutral gear idle goes from 700-1600 rpm . When i stop idle drop down to 700rpm and stay there.
When i move the car 0.5 m idle go again from 700 to 1600rpm.
Problem is when i drive on pertrol and on gas, doesnt metter.
carburator is clean, Idle valve is clean, what next ?

idle problems can be caused by vac leaks so i would check there first, spray some carb cleaner around vac pipes and seals/joints/gaskets etc if revs rise you have found the leak  :y

have a look at your EGR valve if the bolts have become loose threaded as 2 of mine were on my v6

ok i try that. No change in idle throttle. Nothing happens.
I checked the intake manifold and air filter box. Nowhere draws excess air.

I remembered something else, sometimes the car is ok, but when you power off and after 5 minutes start on idle goes crazy.
might be a problem in fluid temperature sensor, but where it is located.

My omega had a similar problem: revs jumped 700-3000 rpm... I cleaned EGR and know it runs smooth.

it is on the drivers side of the plenium held on by 3 bolts behind throttle cable on british migs

Make absolutley sure the breathers, throttle body and drillings and the idle valve are clean.

If the breathers and associated drillings are clogged, the idle valve will also quickly clog.

Plnety of guides on here telling you how to do it

Not on a 2.0/ 4-pot.

EGR valve is right at the back of the head, next to to the DIS.  This picture also shows the position of the temperature senders.



I'm not sure that an EGR fault can cause your symptoms, but I can't see any harm in giving it a clean.

Grumpy's guide is definitely the thing to follow for IACV and breather-jet cleaning, but sometimes won't completely solve the problem if the idle (air control) valve is worn.  If you can borrow another IACV that is known to be working, to try on your car, that might be useful.  A cheap pattern replacement IACV lasted faultlessly for about 4 years until the death of our mig.
