We all know that, where Sky have an SD and HD channel, they purposely reduce the bandwidth on the SD one ::)

HD broadcasts are clearly better, although like DVD upscalers, some TVs do a reasonable job of upscaling SD.  My MCE does an A1 job upscaling (likes face it, it certainly has the processing power), and does make it difficult to tell SD and HD apart, but clearly there is more detail in the HD broadcast.  1080p films are better again.

But the only things, beyond action films, I want to see in HD are the Natural
History programmes
, and the BBC make the best. And the 2 BBC HD channels are free to air anyway.

Personal choice, that's what it's all about. :y

When are the adult channels gonna be in HD? Would I be able to see each individual pube?

You need those channels fuzzy, for the full authenticity of those cheesy 1970s 'educational films' that the man in the pub used to hire out... ...apparently

They weren't fuzzy, you were just starting to lose your sight. No doubt you were warned but chose to ignore it. I know I did ;D

Of course, it could have been the VHS tape was stretched at the 'important' points ::)

Non HD Sky Sports used to be watchable.  As soon as the Sports HD channels came along, you can barely see the rather ball on the SD channels...

On itv the ball is square. But then it was always square, even on an SD tv.

My balls are square after trying to lift a box of bags of salt last night, which Mrs TB couldn't lift for me...

I've never knowingly tried to watch Sky Sports, but the bit rate on most Sky channels appears to be cut to the bone. In some respects I think they are trading resolution for the ability to handle motion, so with rapidly moving pictures we'd have been better off with SD that hasn't been compressed as heavily, sadly.

Bandwidth is quite a big issue for Sky at the moment, around 24 HD channels will be needed for the olympics and some fairly major cut backs are taking place to free up bandwidth  :o

Must say the Mclaren looks absolutely stunning this year, although that's not hard in this company.

Some good shots, so far. On board cameras, one on Webers crash hat, and one looking back at the Mclarens under tray, which gives a remarkably wide angle. Come in handy for those cut the nose off incidents. :)
