MFD issues
« on: 14 March 2012, 18:44:42 »

I took the dash panel out to change some bulbs but since refitting the MFD won't work.  it occasionally flickers but never gives a full clear display.  I have checked the plug and no bent pins and it is fully home.  I'm flummoxed, any ideas?  I can't get the radio code in without Tue display  :(

New bulbs, or 2nd hand? If 2nd hand, its not beyond the realms of possibility they are all blown.

Make a different with sidelights on or off?

OK, does it make a difference if sidelights on of off?

the board may have a dry joint on the pins, may need re solering back on. or the plug wire pins has come away and not connecting properly to the pins,..

Tried 're-wetting' the joints on the plug pins, no change.  Going for replacement :(

Can you 'borrow' one from a local member, before buying one, to prove it is MID. Those later MIDs are normally bulletproof.

MID has to match the car spec, though I'm sure Old Man Wood in Alton can assist with tech2 if reqd.  Press and hold both S and R for 3s to see the config on yours.
