Sunroof electrical gremlins (or a ghost!)
« on: 03 April 2012, 18:57:54 »

Got the fright of my life goin to work the other day, just driving along the M62 to do my night shift when all of a sudden WHOOOOSH!!!! I wondered what the hell was goin on, looked around all windows still intact, then looked up, the sunroof was open :o :o :o I hadn't touched it, dial still as was??????????? Its done it again today aswell, I turned on the ignition, started up and within about 2 miles of driving, it opened again!!! (No one told this car it was raining today ;D ;D  ::) ::) )

Anyone any ideas why? or do I have a poltergeist in my car  :'(

Ah yes, the old 'phantom sunroof' again. Common issue, which just occurred recently on mine. There is a guide to cleaning the switch in an attempt to cure it. Hasn't worked for me so I'll have to give it another go.
It is a little scary though when it happens  :-X

You think so Rob? Even if it's only an occasional occurrence? Would make sense though  :-\

Have you changed or disconnected the battery recently, if so the sunroof needs re-syncing. Push and hold the button in each position of the roof until it clicks.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

Not cheap then I suppose  :( I might try to clean it first & see if it cures it, if not I'll just pull the plug on it, the air-cons freezing anyway, it just been re-filled, I don't tend to use the s/roof anyway.

"Phantom roof" problem isn't related to the battery being disconnected and the roof needing to be reset.
