Melton is only a small quite town. The Ye  Olde pork pie shoppe is small, pies are not bad, you can buy better ones from Bailies shop in Upper Broughton. There's a small theme park called Twin Lakes just off the A607 Grantham road. Buy yourself some Stilton cheese. If you like Churches, St Marys church is one of only a few parish churches that are of cathedral status but are not. Not much to get excited about, although I've met people who come back time and time for the different Markets Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and sometimes Wednesday.

Watch out for the roads they are a bit bumpy.

Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe is the only one I know, and probably the only reason I'd go to Melton. That said the Vale of Belvoir is nice depending on the weather!!! Today would be a flask of tea in the car!!! ;D ;D

Gotcha - oldie  ;D ;D ;D

Seriously though - you dont see anyone younger than 60 or so with a flask do you? I dont think we even own one.

I have two, and I am a mere 49. They come in very handy when watching my son play rugby or football in the middle of winter :y

+1 and we are 46  ;D

You must be like the tight bastards that visit the Weatherby Whaler (in Wakefield ??? ). The do great fish'n'chips, bread rolls and a lovely cup of rosy. They even provide a nice seating environment outside for sunny days. So lovely Yorkshire folk roll up, buy a portion of chips and sit outside with their flasks and a bag full of bread and butter that they brought with them.

We went to MM today, visited this pie shop and had a DOH moment when I realised that these are the same pies that Sainsbury's sell.  ;D Interestingly they also do online ordering service - so will save a couple of gallons next time. Seemed an "ok" place - but one which like many highstreets needs a bit of a boost.

That's right:o That's why I said in earlier Post, that the best ones come from the Village butchers and farm shops around Melton They are hand made in smallish quantities and they are brilliant, can be expensive but it's good grub. :y :y
