I have got a timing light, yes, and a vac gauge. Might be a bit dusty. Not seen a dizzy for a while, especially one with a vac connection :o.

Brilliant, hopefully I can tinker with that for an hour or so then :y

You call the shots, Marie,

That's fine... but please bear in mind I probably won't last long with heavy, under-car work, I'm still recovering / struggling with my chest... so I wouldn't be much help in the gearbox fitting dept at the moment..

OK. No problem, James. You can be on drill and tap detail with the intake manifold if you like.

No problemo.. although I suspect to finish an LPG conversion from start to finish, including the tank and backend filler/kit, and then mapping... it will take the three of us the entire weekend! You remember last time? ;)

Very true. Tank was already mounted, and we didn't get round to the filler.  :-/

Then again, it's a 4 pot, and hopefully we won't have to do runs out to get bits and pieces.

We aren't going to get very far without the filler this time either.  ::)

Not desperately. Got 4 that are about 15 miles, one in each compass direction.

 :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ let me think............

The LPG is the priority. I havent the first clue of how or what to do!

The gearbox can wait. its not that bad jase blew it outa proportion.
Ill just keep toppin it up as and when i need to and when i get the time i will drop the box out my self. James could you show me where the hole is to do the torque converter bolts. but other then that i recon i could manage it! with one of the lads from work helpin.

Just to wander off topic again slightly. Don't trust the timing marks on the rover v8... They are rarely even close! Probably better to time it by ear... That's how i did mine and it ran like a dream. You may find it interesting to check it with a light when it's running!

If it runs better cold have you checked the mixture? Just a thought.

The reason behind my sudegstion to use a timing light is not to set the timing but, it will show how knackered the timing chain is!!!!  :y

It's been my experience that unless you can hear the chain rattling badly it's unlikely to be a problem! Don't forget the mod have been using that engine for years! ;D ;D :D :D ;D ;D

My experience is that with teh chain slack you get a power drop and will find the cam and followers in a similar state...

And think what the MOD use them in......and then think about how they tend to maintain them  ;D ;D ;D
