Any news yet rob?
Yes, sorry - totally overlooked it. I got one of these and fitted it, it works well and does exactly what it should. It gives a choice or 3 or 5 flashes.
Delivery from Germany took weeks - and it arrived a couple of weeks back.
The installation took me a lot longer than it should have done due to a combination of a) some ambiguity in their translation from German, b) GM's choice to use the same colour wire for two different functions in the indicator circuitry.
I could do another one in a fraction of the time though.
Installation needs 5 connections:
1) Ignition switched 12v
2) Ground
3) Indicator left to bulbs
4) Indicator right to bulbs
5) Indicator common
The easiest way of getting 3,4,5 is tapping into the three wires going to the indicator stalk and stripping insulation/soldering/taping up again.
DONT USE SCOTCHBLOKS.
I mounted the unit in the void behind the lightswitch and accessible with the panel end cover off.
The German supplier suggests connecting the module straight to the +12v ignition switched line - with no fuse. I don't think that's a good Idea, so added a small fuse in line just for safety's sake.
In terms of pricing, well, I ended up paying about 60 Euros for mine - with shipping being a big chunk.
They have given me the following prices for volume:
26 Eur / pc when order 50 pcs and more*
28 Eur / ps when order 40 pcs and more*
30 Eur / pc when order 30 pcs and more*
32 Eur / pc when order 20 pcs and more*
34 Eur / pc when order 10 pcs and more*
35 Eur / pc when order up to 5 pcs
This is for a single order - with delivery to one point in the UK.
If we were to do a group buy (which I'd be happy to co-ordinate) then there would need to be an extra charge for onwards postage to OOF members. I'd suggest about £3 to cover registered postage & a small jiffy bag.
The ambiguity in the instructions is easily fixed as I'd correct their guide. Electrical ability is not demanding - but the 5 connections need to be well made so soldering skill is necessary.
So, with 50 people the price would be (eg) 26 Euros plus £3, per member - plus a fusefolder.
Let me now what you think.
