Pedro de la Rosa. HRT. - "I don't particularly like Monaco.... Too dangerous for modern f1. Great place, great atmosphere, but it's not a REAL race that I look forward to"

Prosecution rests. :)

??? what prosection mate ???  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Pedro ain't exactly a top guy - check out other drivers' comments - most look forward to driving Monaco as its a different test of skills and concentration compared to most other circuits.

Guess you've not been there then  ???
Missed the end of my first post too by the looks. I have as it happens. ;D

? ? ? ? ?
Were you there for a GP Chris?
has somebody rattled your drop links D? Yes!

See the end of my first post also. "the drivers seem to enjoy it...."etc
Not at all Chris - you have a long memory and and I guess like to be right all the time!

Watched the GP on tele - not particularly exciting, more about tyre management than anything else!  However 78 laps of "precision" driving in the main - those that didn't fall off were consistently so close to those barriers.

Mr de la Rosa at least managed 3 laps  ;D ;D ;D

Did you in fact see the GP when you were at Monaco Chris?

D, are you, at the end of this rather odd list of quotes, going to ask me if I won the race? Because the answer to that is clearly no!...whats your point?

You clearly didn't read post #30 Chris.

Just trying to get you to accept that sometimes it is difficult to be pedantic about something without actually experiencing that something in the flesh - in this case the Monaco GP.

Guess the answer to my unanswered question is no you have'nt see the monaco GP "first hand"

No offence intended  ;) ;)

I didn't see all of the Monaco Grand Prix either. Who won? Too much beer, too much work getting a wheel off earlier. I fell asleep after eating  :-[

Why would i be offended? Although winky smileys show your intentions otherwise IMO.;D
Pointless conversation anyway, if I show you z you going to see a, no matter whats said, or seen clearly on the page.
I personally am fully in favour of F1 and what's involved as the sport goes. The point I am trying to make is this is about as far as its possible to get from the ideal stage to showcase it (note "showcase" not drive) from a spectators point of view. And that's me a spectator. A viewer.

Obviously I haven't driven an F1 car, and I'm sure you haven't either. I have been to Monaco on F1 weekend, and seen various support races, impressive. But it would be WAY more impressive at any other track.  ...In my opinion.  :)

...as a driver, I am sure the point of view is different, as I mentioned to in my very first post.
Jeez...  ;D

chrisgixer - I occasionally go to the F1 test days up the road (only the free entry ones, I ain't paying ;D).  That track has been forced, due to the clever way little Bernie played the situation over than last 10yrs, to have such massive run-off areas.  Its not the same as it was before they really started rather around with the track.  Mostly, outside of the complex, the track is so far from the spectators, you can barely see.

Yes, there has to be a way of ensuring nobody gets seriously injured, spectators or drivers, nobody denies that. From a racer's point of view (and that of F1 drivers as well), large run-off areas are great. But, for the spectators, who can only see a small section of track for their £200, they want to be...

...oh never mind, we'll never agree.

having ridden and spectated at Silverstone, ( dont worry i dont want a medal ;D )
personally I think the place is Motorsport mecca. Given the balance between driver/rider/spectator satisfaction. It is a bit flat, so I guess thats bound to make spectators view a bit restricted, but other than that.

Where would you rather watch an f1 race ? Monaco or Silverstone. Pointless question but that's the only reason I started this thread. Whatever other angles people want to put on it, that's up to them.

Monaco as an f1 event = joke. Simples! IMO.  Obviously all things are relative. If there was no other better circuit, it would be fantastic. But fact is there are loads better, all of them in fact. It's a shit place to have an F1 race. Dull boring precession.
