Cam cover help please
« on: 01 June 2012, 22:06:54 »

Started stripping down the 2.6 all new to me having spent all my time on a 2.2. Anyway Cam cover gasket needs changed have stripped it down to the injectors have been following the guide and dismantled the LPG. How do I get the injectors out to get to the cam covers. Cheers. Take into consideration I have never touched a 2.6 before and will give anything a try.

Cover all six inlets first after taking top off engine, then unbolt injectors, bolts down in V of heads should see the first one  near the state, only lift out one way lean over to side, there is a black cap at back on injector rail, to release fuel psi then undo  the 17 and 19 one side injector rail, remember, cover inlets again!

Not sure that I understand the question :-\

The inlet plenum is held on by 4 Torx bolts, remove that and:

The upper inlet manifold (with injectors attached) is held by 6 Torx bolts to the lower inlet manifold.

I found it helpful to unplug the 6 injector electrical connectors to make space to get the Torx bit in to undo it.

It's has to be tilted to one side, then find the shallow cut outs for and aft in the head to remove it as the base flange passes the head.

I presume he means removing the injector inlet manifold from between the heads?

It does come out. Tilt it to the right, then move it back and forth along the v until the base flange lines up with the recess in the side of the head. Once positioned correctly it just lifts out. ...honest. :)

Down by the yellow injector plug, At the front in the pic, there's a Torx bolt. There are 6 in total, one by each injector. Needs a Torx socket on extension to reach each bolt. Plus a magnet on a stick helps to get them out.

As said above, even when all 6 bolts are out, it'll still need a good wriggle to get it out.  :y :y :y

If its a 2.6 its more than likely to be a male torx bit you need ;)
