Insane Vauxhall Service Quote
« on: 08 June 2012, 09:52:53 »

FatherT's Air-con stopped working again, we have his 2.2 MOT'd there as its always passed ok! They did a re-gas which fixed it last time, but it stopped working again, they checked it over and kindly provided this list from a "Visual Heath check"

Vehicle came in for Aircon inop Requires :-
Aircon radiator leaking £454.79

Bonnet cable snapped Requires :-
Bonnet cable £173.15

Carried out full  Visual Health Check on veh , also requires :-

Has slight wear in n/s steering idler  £190.19

o/s/r coil spring broken - non gen spring £146.39

Exhaust Manifold blowing , may also require studs drilling out £372.22

N/S/F Tyre on 1.6mm  on inner edge
O/S/F tYRE ON 2mm on inner edge
Rear tyres on 3mm  Budget tyres in stock £113.40 Each

Reset tracking £35.00

 :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

A steering idler, £190!? A single coil spring £140!?! Christ!  >:(

Needless to say I've told FatherT to politely decline their work!

Funny thing is, they don't mention the cambelt, which is due!

Can anyone recommend suitable air-con rad? Sure can fix it for less than their quote!

£80 quid, much better for the rad. Cheers Rob  :y

Can the air-con rad be replaced on its own, does the evaporator need to be replaced too?

Take that as a no then  ::)

That said, aircon, cambelt, tyres, springs, all of which I can do, but maybe its time for FatherT to get a V8  :D

FFS thats some quote - at least a large tub of Vaseline required :o :o

I've used these people for replacement radiators in the past - good quality and service - sure their condensors will be ok too :y

I'm not justifying the cost, but these prices will include labour and VaT :-\

No trade, or any other discount on the quoted work either, and the tyre prices are daft, like you said you could probably get Michelin ones for that ::)

If nothing else, you now know what's potentially up with it :y
