Engine trouble
« on: 14 June 2012, 11:36:50 »

Hi All

My mig has issues. Last week or so been a bit slow to start, and last few days there's been a bit of bunny hopping. Rev jumps between 1 & 2.5k, no power (or intermittant), stalled twice. Has only happened 5 times in a few days b ut don't want it to get any worse!

Friend has a snap-on Solus reader, returns the following codes:

0172 fuel trim bank 1 malfunction
0173 fuel trim bank 2 malfunction

Any ideas?

Check the idle air flow reading when warm, my betting is that its either low or high.

Get someone who knows what he is doing mate with either a tech 2 or similar to check it. I had the exact same codes I promise you. A MAF sensor cured it.
The Master is very rarely wrong :y

Yes. You have to remember Vauxhall don't make their own parts. The genuine MAF Sensor would be a Bosch. The one you buy from Cavectra in Grey will also be Bosch and identical :y

I would though like I said earlier get someone with a tech 2 or similar who knows what they are looking at to check your car before buying anything.
What "The Master" which is Mark DTM himself says about the MAF is exactly what mine was doing, also I got the exact same codes as you have posted.
