The engine itself isn't turning over at all... The fuel pump turns on and the starter motor is turning over but nothing is happening... Fuel is definitely getting to the piston chambers and the spark plugs are all igniting.. I almost want to say its like the part of the starter that cranks the engine isnt connected to anything if that make sense ?
Where are you looking to tell whether your engine is turning over. You should be looking at the large pulley wheel right the bottom of the engine ie crank shaft pulley. If that's turning but the cams aren't (gently prise the cam cover forward and look at the cam pulleys) then it's as Rob suggests ..... your cam belt has gone.
Also, it's not unheard of for the flex plate - an automatic cars version of a flywheel - to crack around the bolts that hold it to the crankshaft. ....... which relates to your comment that the starter isn't connected to the engine.
