Harry's (jimbob junior) Op Day
« on: 12 July 2012, 21:29:54 »

Well today is / was the day for Harry's op,
he had a cyst / thyroid duct that needed removing from under his chin.

Had to starve him from 7:30 this morning, and into hospital for 12.

Got there, usual checks, they gave him a pre med, (kids diazepam) which he had a wonderful reaction too and entertained the ward  ;D  well and truely spaced him out, was away with the fairies!

Went down to theatre at 3:30, we got called up an hour later, which was a little worrying as all the other kids parents were taken up by nurses.....Just transpired that A, the surgeon wanted to talk about what he had done, as his op wasnt routine, like all the other kids with tonsils / adenoids, and B, they wanted us there when he woke up as he was so distressed (and autistic)

Took him a while to come around, and for his temp and vitals to regulate.

Unfortunately since, he hasnt been able to keep any food or water down, so they have had to keep him in overnight.

Cannot fault the care they have given him, the nurses have been excellent and gone above and beyond.

Not much fun for him (and mum) having a night there though.
Clever idea in childrens ward where the bedside chairs are also pull out beds for parents!

Get well soon Harry!

Well it's good news that the procedure has been done, so hopefully things will soon be on the up when he gets back home again to familiar surroundings. :y

I hope Laura is keeping well. :-*

And breakfast? How was breakfast? I assume not all over the floor.

Actually, being poorly, he deserves breakkie in bed :D.  As does LJ, having been up until late. Chop, chop JB, on with your pinney
