Basically -- you DO get what you pay for with sat nav --- TomTom use OS mapping or an equivalent whereas the cheaper systems use two students on their annual holidays noting down routes on a scrap of paper -- which is later fed into the mapping system!

I have been using Tom Tom for 4 years now and have never been sent down any erroneous route
No, Tomtom uses maps from the same 2 mapping companies as everyone else - Teleatlas (who they are trying to buy, but city things it will kill tomtom) and Navteq.

I thin TT has a good feature set and is easy to use.  The latest Navmans are good, but bit clunky in use.

My 'Nokia 95' loaded with 'tom tom' is brilliant and free to use, credit to my son not me, he downloaded all info for free, very impressed.
