Iphone 4S
« on: 01 August 2012, 20:33:00 »

Probably replacing one of the mobiles in the house with an Iphone 4S tomorrow as her contract is up...

I know theres a fair few users of them on here.

How do you find the battery life in real life use?

Any major hints and tips on them?

Cheers

Battery will last a day easily with general use, phone, texting, web browsing app use, things that use GPS/Bluetooth sap the power.

Jailbreaking is easy at moment with stock 5.1 (better not discussed in public)

If its contract though, might be worth holding out for the next generation due in September/October....

Cheers, imagine the next one will carry a price premium to start with, and her old one is dying and shes desperate to replace it.

My 3GS lasts a day in reality. Can get 2 or 3 days if I disable stuff. 4 and 4s have better battery life.

5 is likely to be same price as 4s is now. But thats 21st Sep...

The trouble with them, apart from having to be gay to own one, is iTunes. iTunes is the work of Satan, positively the worse, most amateur bit of software ever released.

Mrs TB and I have had our gayphones for 2.5yrs, and her battery is just starting to have reduced life...  ...which for a Li-ION battery charged daily, isn't too bad.

Cheers for that, handy to know real figures, plus her being a lady....occasional gay (well lesbian) tendancies are a good thing ;)

4 and 4s in our house. 1 day battery life easily. I have blu tooth, wifi and gps on permanently, and you know how much time it spends on line.

Hammer the 3G and it will die in about 10 hours iirc.

2 days without charge is not difficult if sensible, but it's best to charge daily obviously, as with any smartphone.

Chargers have stupidly short cables by the way.

Ignoring jail braking etc for a minute, and considering the os only. Why so? :)

I am hearing similar at work, from those that have android, but they don't always have experience of gay phones to give a fair opinion.

Personally I find the majority of popular android hand sets way too big. But I havent looked into it in detail for some time.

Its the same with most things. Whatever you cut your teeth on is the one that will always be your favourite. I prefer my android but since wifey got her ipad she can't wait to 'upgrade' hers to iphone. Both will do the job but TB is right about itunes, it infects your life.

Oh yes, and icloud, that takes a bit of getting used to. Someone saving everything about your life and reminding you back it up ;D

Cheers all....

I agree, I prefer (and use) Android....she hates it and cant get on with any android phone she has tried.
Iphone, she's used a fair few and loves them...

Technical issues aside, which matter little to her, the one she likes using is ALL that matters.  unless there is a big show stopper, which we havent found (yet)

Indeed. Horses for courses.  I find Android cumbersome, and a PITA to use. And remember, before turning Homosexual, I was a WinMo 6.5 user, and I found Android more cumbersome than that ;D

Andriod *still* lacks a good email client for anything other than POP3 (and who in their right mind uses that ::)), and until that is resolved, Android remains in the 'not for me' category.

That said, I have no desire to change, despite my phone's age. The better battery and speed offered by iPhone 4/4S would be nice, but not nice enough to replace my 2.5yr old handset...

iTunes. To me that is a massive show stopper. On the very rare occasions I need it, I install it, then do what I have to do, then immediately remove it from the PC. It really is a heap of junk.
