My diet is terrible. Veg on a Sunday only, no fruit. I tend to live on white bread :-[

Sitting here smoking a fag and eating a big bacon sandwich.. I have been thinking about getting fit for years but something always gets in the way. the only exercise I get is walking around a w/house for 6 hours a day. I will get around to it one day. :y

with my limited knowledge I think I have to mention about some points..

long time ago about year 1939 one jewish origin german scientist (under the protection of Adolf Hitler) discovered that
human cells covered with saturated oil ,blocks its oxygen intake and the cell was forced to mutate.. so that it can obtain oxygen from sugar.. obviously this mutation causes cancer..  unfortunately this finding was prooved to be correct after many years and take some scientific rewards..

besides even without oil blockage if human organs/cells dont have enough oxygen, cancer may easily develop..

so for your health please keep this in your mind , whole your life.. :y

ps: fruits especially the red colored are #1 for protection/fight against cancer..

Got to admit i've turned into a complete fat barsteward in the last 5 years.
In fact from my old fighting weight of 12 stone, i've put on about 5 stone in the last 20 years due to eating processed cr*p and drinking too much beer.  ::)
It was never much of a problem when I was in the RAF of when I had plenty of work on because I just burnt it off but nowdays it justs ends up round my waist line and nothing seems to move it  :-[
Arthritis runs in the family as does cancer so I really shoud eat better and drink less but tbh, I tend to eat whatever is cheapest and quickest to prepare.

Right, off for a kebab  ;D

Don't forget being fit and healthy is a lifestyle, not something done in the gym three times a week. Start small and take it in steps, that way it's easier and more manageable. You never know you might even start to enjoy it! I'm a vegetarian, don't have sugar on tea, don't smoke, don't drink much, have a good diet, eat little and often, do loads of exercise, bla blah blah, my cholesterol apparently was so low it couldn't be measured, good blood pressure, waking / resting / working heart rate of 42 / 48 / 60! Bonus! Just do it in small steps. I do have to stay fit for my job though which helps

Being serious, when I worked in my previous job I was under 11 stone and was fit as a flea due to the very physical nature of the job.
Fit as a flea apart from my spazzy leg that is,the job was wrecking what was left of the working bits of it.
I now do a job which requires little physical activity and I cant believe how unfit I am,Im 13 stone and moderate physical exertion leaves me quickly out of breath and cream crackered in a very short time.
Theres no way I can take up an excercise reigime which involve use of the legs - jogging, walking any distance, cycling etc. so what do I do ?  :-\

shoot yourself mind you you would probably miss you old fart :-*

Keep fit, eat well, don't spend too much time in the sun and don't get sun burnt and accept that gravity is always going to win it is just a case of how quickly.  ::) ::) ::)

My fitness, strength and stamina were fine in my 40's, but I'm noticing the decline in strength and stamina as I progress through my 50's.  >:(

41 is the perfect age to do your first triathlon.  Do a super sprint or something small and see if you like it.  I did my first one at 18 and I've been hooked ever since.  Took a few years to get healthy again after I fell ill and i am back in full flow.  I have a half and full Ironman lined up ofr next year with a target to reach Hawaii Ironman by my mid 40s :y
