Which Droplink?
« on: 13 September 2012, 14:08:47 »

Are the originals Lemforder? (does it matter?) if so do you all recommend fitting those?

I notice the Meyle ones at "All German Car Parts" are only slightly cheaper and are "HD" with a 4 year warranty

Worth going for??????

Lemforder used to be brilliant, but various reports of quality dip recently  :(

i have a rattling sort of knock when i go over the slightest little bump in the road from the front end of the car but no noise if i go over speed humps or pot holes is that likely to be drop links

Yup, to test, jack both ends up, pop wheels off and feel for movement.

But as you describe you get the sound over a rough road  :y

Fitted mine around 2 years ago ...bought from Jason at Allgerman..think they were around £20=00 each, but that was a while ago now so possibly poorer quality as advised

Meyle HD would be my choice, still early days yet on fitting to fully understand the life of them but the warranty sounds good and the quality (look/feel) is very good

As said meyle look good and have the warranty, they 'be been around a while I believe but we haven't had any firm test on their life afaik. So it's too early to say I would have thought.

I thought a ball joint was a ball joint tbh..? Where as the HD ones have a more chunky body. Can we tell if the actual ball joint is HD as well? ..as that's the bit that fails obviously.

I too am trying Meyle HD ones, although my previous Febi lasted very well. Actually, too well, as I think the noise is not droplinks. So the Meyle may stay in the box for now ;D

Ball joint on the steering knuckle sounds similar when it goes :-\

But it is more solidly built so on balance drop link is usually the first place to look :y

Incidently, new droplinks will always see a reduction in noise because they are, well, new

Ok to slightly divert the thread ... if Meyle drop links are of good quality is it worth paying the extra for the Meyle WISHBONES?...has anyone tried them ?

I think so....but as far as we know, noone has tried them yet.

I will when I need a new set if noone else has first.
