All data was from the car manual,as I had time on my hands and nothing better to read..sad I know ;D

Just struck me as excessive for even the manufacturer to state such high oil consumptions were what appeared to be the norm

I recon I put in less than 0.5 ltr between oil changes of 3k..manula recons I should or could ?? which ever whay you read it ..be adding 3 ltrs :o :o :o

depends on how hard a car is used, if with my 2.2, I did a months worth of commuting (near 1k) of cruise control set at 80mph, did not use a drop of oil.

But do 90+ runs, and it started to use it.

That's just Vx covering themselves for oil lost into spark plug wells and dripping onto exhaust manifolds.  :y See, we thought that it was an error - but it looks like it's a design "feature".

Interestingly - some years back a few chums who had Audi company cars were basically read the riot act on delivery by the leasing company. Along the lines that if engine failure was caused by lack of oil that the customer was liable. The Tdi engines used oil, and they were getting through at least 5L between services. Makes you think twice about buying a used VAG product as the majority of drivers dont check oil from one service to the next ............
