Heater
« on: 05 November 2012, 16:47:56 »

Hi,
Have flushed the heater matrix, changed HBV and flushed out the whole cooling system the refilled.
Engine temp gauge reads 85 and only increases when engine revved at 3000rpm the will slowly rise to 90.
I am not getting any heat from heater unless the engine is revved at +3000rpm.
At a loss what else to do or where to take the car!!!!!!!!
any suggestions?

How does the top rad hose get hot from cold? Slowly as the engine starts to get warm or all at once when the thermostat opens? If slowly it's likely to be the 'stat.

Not the 'stat then ........ maybe the 85 deg showing on the gauge is wrong and equates to it's normal running temp.  :-\

Update,
Have totally drained the system and then refilled.
There was no water in either of the pipes that run to and from the winter electric pump!
Got car up to 85c and then switched off.
Turned on the heater on the CC and found NO voltage going to the winter electric pump!
Where does the winter electric water pump get its power?
Also where do the water pipes for the winter pump go to (yes I know at the back of the engine) but cannot see what they connect to?

Is there anybody local who can assist?

Have you checked your fuses? Some info I have here suggests that pump is supplied by fuse 24 (20A). I've not had the issue personally so can't speak from experience.

I have the same problem with my saloon but never got round to sorting it out as i got the estate so i'm watching this thread with interest.  The winter pump on mine has no power and checked the fuse and the relay but nothing.  Took the pump out and it was a mess inside but i put in a another checked it was a known worker and still nothing....I'm not sure as to when it is suppose to get power to it.  Sorry i'm of no use mate.

I've got mine going into the garage on Friday to sort out the heating. Blowing hot on passenger side, freezing cold on drivers side. Getting a bit parky not to have heat.

^^^ that sounds like a bugger of a job and since I have absolutely no patience with things like that and would no doubt wreck/ dent/ break other things in my rage, I reckon I'll leave it to the garage.  :)
Joking aside I haven't the time anyway, and this weekend is one of he few we only actually need one car.
The garage I use are great, no bull from them, no hiked up prices, the owner works on the principle that if he's honest and reasonably priced people will use him again and pass on their good reports.
It's a mad crazy notion.... But it seems to work!  ;D

Still same problem.
Can anybody suggest a knowledgeable Garage in the Midlands?

m.ian - let me have a look at the diagrams, can't do that until tomorrow. Badger me if you don't hear anything, I have a habit of not always remembering  :-[

I think the pump is controlled by the climate panel, via a relay. But let me check.

Thinking along lines of duff config on climate - its a trip to MDTM or me to resolve if it is.
