What mpg are you getting  :-\ Also just inquiring if the 2.0 is pretty much bullet proof , seems to be a fair few around with high mileage indicating good engines ? Anything to look out for ? Im guessing the auto box with 2.0 is a no no so must be a manual for economy reasons  :-\

2.0/2.2 is not far off 2.5 V6 in fuel use.

If given fresh oil every 5k and good coolant maintenance they are good for 200k

Neglected though, like any other engine they will have issues.

Manual if you want economy, from my 2.2 on petrol i used to average 32-34mpg.

Other benefit of 4pots is they are much, much easier to work on  :y

The few that i have looked at with high mileage are around the 170000 mile range so must be nearing the end of their working life then , easier to work on for definite . Mpg sounds good  :y

We've had 3 as taxis. A hard life, but none of them have made it to 200,000 despite regular maintenance. Of course I don't know how well they were looked after in their early lives. 35 mpg on a steady motorway run, more like 25 running around. I've never had an auto 4 pot, but would guess they are a fair bit less economical.

My experience of Omega fuel economy is that there isn't that much in it between any of the engines, it's the auto box that's the killer.

A low mileage 2.0 manual the one to look for then , just looking up the road tax difference and insurance compared to the 3.0  :-\

Now thats a rip off , its the same tax bracket as the 3.0  :(

I have a 98' 2.0 ltr auto with 198.000 mls on the clock, can confirm that 25-30mpg is a ballpark figure,so I would agree that a manual is the way to go :y

Tax would be the same on the old big or little engine scheme, guess there's some savings to be made on insurance though!

We replaced the last 2.0 Omega taxi with a 1.8 Vectra. I don't have the same enthusiasm for it, but I can't deny it's big and comfy enough, easily as quick, and it is hugely more economical... even I can get 45mpg on a run.

The big killer with them is wear on No1 pot.

Besides that, HG is common around 150k, cam covers at around 6-8yrs. Otherwise good. Can guarantee at least 1 cam sensor failure in its life.

From my days with three X20XEV engined Vectra's it seemed to be every 40K the cam sensor would fail!

Is that wear at higher mileage or at any mileage due to bad maintenance ? Apart from that it dont sound too bad  :)

Engine wear, not linked to maintenance  :y
