Good WIM/Poor WIM service?
« on: 04 December 2012, 20:53:24 »

Not sure if I should be overly unhappy or not really. I had my miggy into a WIM franchise about 16 months ago for full geo set up and it was found to need wishbones which were duly supplied and fitted with a total bill of £350 with the set up. It had literally brand new dunlop sp tyres all round and the track rods etc were also brand new. I have covered 7k gentle miles since and spotted the inside edges of all my tyres are bald as coots while the outer edges have plenty of meat left.

Is this a sign of crappy wishbones being fitted at the front? Am I being unrealistic in my expectations of a WIM set up to last longer than this? car was off the road for 5 months during this period too  :(

tough one as the rears have worn as well.

Never been to wim but what i do know is that all operators of various equipment have different levels of skill.

took a polo which wore tyres out in a similar fashion to have the standard 4 wheel track done. spot on, could feel the difference.

took a golf in, different operator, all suspension checked. adjusted, but i know its not right.

if i had the equipment or method i would love to do it myself.

Contact wheels-inmotion, and send him the settings they applied.

AFAIK, WIM are only geometry, any suspension components would be, I suspect, down to the local garage who fitted them

Never been to a franchise one, always go to Tonys own place. Entire tunnie fleet goes there, never disappointed  :y

It was Langs in Bolton so not sure if they are a franchise as such but I know they use WIM settings, they supplied and fitted the wishbones with the assurance they were not " Chinese crap" The car felt better but is undestandably all over the show at the moment :(

Thats em Rob , quite highly regarded as the place to go round these parts! Not being a Victor Meldrew just a bit dissapointed really as I was hoping to get more wear out of the tyres as they were not cheapies. I doubt there is anything I can do about it now  :(

Ive used Langs a few times....and they go overboard to make things right in my experience, including moving the subframe...

iirc....the wishbones were sourced quicky as you were on route to ireland?  forgive if my memory is wrong..
so maybe the parts werent up to scratch?  I would be in touch with them / Tony for advise :y
