After taking mine through a carwash, I had same issue (smears with every wipe).

I used white vinegar and scrunched up newspaper.

i use TFR Traffic Film Remover all over my car, its faded anyway & has no shine so doesnt bother me,

it removes all polish,wax,oils,fuel,bugs,tar,silicons,grease,salt... etc etc whatever can be thrown up off other road users,

if you have nice shiny paintwork it will remove all of your polish etc so you will defo need to re wax the body work after its dried!

its a harsh way of removing all dirt put it in a trigger bottle & leave car dry! spray all over car windscreens bodywork alloys everything but DONT LET IT DRY add more & use a worn out scotch pad (sponge 1side corse on other ask your wife she prob washes up with them!) to clean windscreen/windows the wiper blades & alloys only!! use a jetwash & wash off all of car then rewash with your normal basics carwash with HOT water sponge like normal. That should do the job

next day polish bodywork! if required...

if not hammer & nail in the O/S section of screen in drivers vision ,just lightly tap it & it will chip&break then give it a smack or 3 with your palm to send a spider crack across screen or the screen replacement company may just repair chip & ull be back to square 1!!

How long have you had the car? If the previous owner has applied any glass sealants (like Rain-X, but semipermanent), particularly if they've not done it very well, this could cause the same symptoms.

Get to Halfords, get some Intensive Glass Cutter, and a good microfibre cloth for buffing it off with. You're looking at £6ish for the bottle, it's brilliant stuff. Same section as the Rain-X etc.

You're a tad far from me else I'd do it for you :y

Still have this issue and if anything it seems to be getting worse, As TB said "White Vinegar" maybe the brown vinegar was a bad idea :(

Omegaman, its important to change surface wettability..

use some polisher (although not easy) and then use rain repellents.. or use rain repellents alone.. it helped me..

ps: I guess your windcsreen changed with a non-original one and its not polished enough !

Could it be a quality issue with the screen?
As in the smears occur only because these are low points or something similar.

Not had much time to try white vinegar just yet, Would this stuff work ? Thought it would be easier to use in "Spray" Form.  :-\
