probably got highest mileage for year 2000 on forum mate TBH BUT could be wrong and its not a taxi its a parts chaser for me and mates-carried axles/v8s/wheels an all sorts of bits n pieces  :y :y :y :y
Anyway EMD drive it mate dont faff around trust me and Andy B  no worries she'll be right mate :y :y

Isn't there already a lifter treatment in there? :-\

Yeah STP i put in , but because it never worked instantly i thought about putting WYNS in it as well ..probably jumping the gun before the stp has worked  ::)

Leave it alone and DRIVE IT!!!!!!!! :y :y :y :y :y STP is treatment but its not a miracle -you got to DRIVE IT!!!!!!!

Yep, lifters can take a while to refill once they've got air in them. They'll take a good while for the treatment to help too, if it helps, as they are a dead end as far as the oil system goes, so the treatment takes ages to get worked into the lifters..

TBH, the best bet is probably to get a 2nd hand head set of lifters, dismantle them and clean them out (maintenance guide available, IIRC), then swap them.

Mine's low mileage ....... 178000  ;) ;) ;)

S*** mine must of been stood for a few years then, 105,890 on a 2001 Y plate

IME, the STP stuff is pretty poor. At next oil change, pop some Wynns lifter treatment in, its better, but still takes a while to work.

As to using it, if its just a single lifter, using it is the best thing you can do.  If its all lifters, I'd measure oil pressure.



Reminds me, I really should check the oil pressure on the MV6, given the strop that threw 30k ago ::).

I think if there was anything wrong with your oil pressure, it'd have put a leg out of bed long ago. ;)

I put the STP stuff in as it was the dearest and thought it would be the best , normally i would buy WYNNS
 :'( I have not had oil light come on but the tapping sound has not gone away yet  :(
As for checking oil pressure i havent got a clue  ;D Car runs fine pulls very well as normal .

40 miles so far , ive not gave it any stick with the throttle through fear of causing more damage  :-\

do another couple of hundred & then worry about it  ;) ;)
