A good 4" here now.

Clearly the kids have been sent home, as they are all in my road, compacting the snow down. That'll be fun later, when it freezes.

Surprised you're not out there throwing snowballs ::)
Busy trying to formulate a plan to get my best mate's bike back here, as its currently in a hedge  :'(
Is he OK? ???
He doesn't sound like he's in much comfort, and I'll bet my left gonad that he'll feel worse in the morning. But he'll live.

Ironically, the reason he had to use the bike (his missus normally takes him to work) was because of a doctors appt...  ...which was cancelled because the useless NHS are lazy morons due to snow.

Hope he recovers soon. Perhaps he needs a spot of Tiffin to make him feel better, after (of course) sampling a few of the local beer selling establishments first ::)
That was my prescription, but he can't walk at the moment, so we'll "recouperate" another day...

Recon we have had about 2 inches so far but still falling quite heavy  :(

i dont like it . the councils got beat again no gritters or snow ploughs out up this way again >:( >:(

Whats a snow plough  ;D Last time i seen one of those i was 8  :(

This is the snow ploughs (at about 1 minute 20 in) that British Rail used to keep the tracks open, and in the severe winter of 1963, when men with shovels did their bit as well!  Those were the days :D :D ;)

Response to the snow has been pitiful here. Plenty of warning yet roads pretty much untreated. Still, got Mrs. KW to work and on to the office only to be told the building was closing at 12, so a couple of hours' work then back again. :D

I think the authorities now work on the basis that if they tell everyone to stay at home, and make essential journeys only, nobody can complain about the lack of gritters and snowploughs and private business will just have to stomach the cost of lost productivity. ::)
Heads should roll down there as happened up here in Scotland in 2010 our transport minister was ejected and our new one (Keith Brown) hasn't pissed about either all last week gritters were out on all major routes all councils have access to thousands of tons of salt no expense spared even my council went out and bought 12 4x4's, four of which have plough attachments and salt spreaders on the back. also they bought four 4x4 gritters which brings our gritters to 10 aslo 6 bobcats (not been used yet) and any hgv driver in the council that wanted to got trained on all gritters.
So far today the council has spread 600+ton of salt and weve had no snow

The invincible 4x4's are flying down the outside lane in the snow.  ::) ::) Thankfully these vehicles are fitted with super duper tyres that can stop instantly on snow and ice. After all, we all know that four tyres sliding is much safer than two tyres sliding.  ::) ::)

Depends what you deem as "flying"... I've been known to go down the outside, snow covered lane in my Omega when the retards in front refuse to go over 15 mph :o :o

Sounds like the new bloke in the job is wasting a fortune in taxpayers money so no-one can accuse him of being asleep on the job. Needs firing quicker than the last bloke was. ;D

The sort of speed that they had no chance of stopping and run a serious risk of spinning out. We have a 4x4 in the family that is fully equipped for Norway trips (mud & snow tyres with stud compatibility) but I still wouldn't push it to risk other people's lives.  :)

Left work about lunchtime and the roads were basically clear - little bit of slush, bit slippy but fine with winter tyres on. Got 500 yards away from work and someone in a Discovery very nearly rear ended me; presumably they equate 4x4 to "invincible" and free from the laws of physics, despite it's low profile super wide summer tyres...

Drove to Amy's, took her home when her folks finally relented and let her leave early and had a nice drive home in great conditions (I thought!) and then ended up stopping to help a middle aged mother out of a ditch on a series of bends where she'd lost it, not to mention the bloke who ended up joining her (he was heading in the opposite direction originally!) while trying to avoid collecting her pirouetting Citroen. While we were doing that a couple more morons almost joined them in the ditch through going far too fast, only to speed off at precisely the same rate of leptons after collecting their cars (and underwear), ffs. There's no teaching some people!
