your all doing it wrong, get down to argos and purchase an alba modem with built in router and secondary hub incase the router goes down,it connects with gayphones, lappies, towers and tech 2,s.puts out 285000000 mbpms and accepts inward ports and sideway ports it eats forward ports for breakfast and can swallow an adsl along with its long battery life and only using 3xaaa its a bargain at only £4.67 its part of the value range and puts others to shame  ;)

As a revered member said on here a week or so ago, I'd suggest a little more water with it.  ;D  :y

At least your router supports PF.  The Sky one does not and as you cannot use a 3rd party one you're pretty much F&%(£d if you want to setup online gaming.

The way I read this is, if I swop to BT Total Broadband, I will have a more stable internet connection, but will have router problems, as the the router they will supply is crap.

Can't see the point in swopping, really.

AA, I wouldnt worry, mine had been fine since day 1, and still was when the wrongly swapped it out.

The new one, faulty on arrival was swapped out again within days - good customer service, I doubt you will have a prob...

and for the records, mine supports mario kart just fine ;)

BT Openreach will provide the same wires to you house, whether you stick with C&W, or if you go with BT Retail's product.

Accept the fact that most ISPs supply the shittiest routers they can, and modify them to restrict their capability.  The HH3 works OK for "normal" consumer use, with the occasional lock-up. Its probably as good as what most ISPs supply.

If you really want stability on the line, go FTTC - the shorter line length makes a world of difference.

Or FTTP if you want to be a big roller (when you can order it, anyway) .. mind, the installation cost might be a bit eye watering for some ;D
