I just find the whole idea absolutely crazy >:(

So you can't have a spare room and have visitors ???
We have a housing crisis, there are not the properties available to allow downsizing....
I don't like to bring immigration into it, but facts must be faced......
Where are all the thousands of single immigrants from wherever living......in properties that people wishing to downsize could move into?? If not, then I assume every town is full of thousands of people sleeping rough or everyone has purchased or rented their own property. Again, taking homes out of the system for people already here.
How long will it be that us private home owners like me with a spare room are told to move out. >:(

I'm with you on this ozzycat. My wife and I are both disabled, but fortunately I can still walk and get about, but she can't. We have just bought our 3 bedroom bungalow, because it allowed 1 bedroom for our son, 1 for the wife, and the other is stuffed with her equipment i.e. electric lift, commode, 2 wheelchairs, bath lift etc... Me ? I sleep in the lounge..  :(

I absolutely agree, but in this instance why should people in private rented accomodation (because no social housing is available), be treated differently from those in social housing. ??? :(

The Government (Tories) are well aware that even if people wished to move (which most do not) there is a dearth of smaller properties available for them to move to.

Therefore this is simply a tax on the poorest in society. :-\

Are people not allowed a spare room for when friends and family visit?. Sadly not, according to the nasty party. :-\

Meanwhile, Cameron and Osborne will be pushing for a tax cut for the super rich.........and telling Europe that a cap on bankers bonus payments of 100% ( which all 26  EU countries agreed to apart from us) is not acceptable.

It's a crazy world. :(

Sadly not for those renting privately, a policy brought in by the last Labour government >:( >:(

I read somewhere that the council tax benefits sytem is changing.
It will soon be called the coucil tax support scheme
The scheme will expect working age residents at the moment receiving full C/T benefit to contribute 8.5% of their yearly bill.
They will need to do this, because government has sliced 10% from council  funding.
Pensioners & people with disabilities will not be affected.

it says that people that have foster kids and people who have kids in the armed forses dont have to pay people with disabilitys have to apply for dicretionsly  paments to the local council but theres no funding provided for this and we will more than likely get turned down but if youve got rent arears you get it  cant put a link up because i dont know how to do it sorry
