Thermostat Change - What the hell?
« on: 17 March 2013, 15:43:10 »

Is this?!?!?!?!

Stipped down big blue to do the thermostat as its a little sticky...and found the below.

£1 to 1p the thermostat is actually ok, just gunged up, but what is this stuff?  speads all the way down the oil cooler, but is dry and flakey there, but soggy by the stat...guess its clean it up and see what I have, interesting bolt choice holding the stat in too!

Nothing more than dried anti freeze. Looks like you've had a small weep from the housing for a while. Does look like someone has been there in the past. Hope it unbolts ok.

Looks like some very crappy sealant, which they've used too much of?  :-\

Yes...root issue, load of crap sealant which has spread right along.
All cleared now.
1 correct bolt, and 1 half the length it should be!
For some reason, that side was weeping ;)

All back together as far as b bolt fitted...

Finish off tomorrow, few other bits to do as well.
