Yep, I got the same response where I had signed it.
I agree, I suspect they get many more votes on x-factor and other TV tripe.

The conclusion I've come to is that we do not have enough active people in our political parties. If we did then the Camorons, Osbournes, Cleggs and Millipedes of this world would not be where they are today. Unfortunately, where we have a bunch of buffoons, who would struggle to run a bath let alone a country. There are a few effective operators in Parliament, but the buffoons keep them in the background so they are not shown up.

If I wasn't emigrating, then I would get more involved with UKIP and become an activist in their party, but I would not want to be a full time politician.

Lizzie, if you want to know more that is going on with the Conservatives, which you won't see in the papers, I would suggest you read John Redwood's Diaries daily blog:

The only party that I think could save this country from impending economic disaster is UKIP or a UKIP /minor party Conservative coalition and this is purely on the basis that Nigel Farage understands finance where he made his fortune in the City of London and it is quite clear in the interviews where I have seen him talking about financial matters he knows what he is on about and as a proper right wing party I think they would do what is necessary to save the country.
People that depend upon the welfare state, will be the worst hit once the country runs out of money. Benefits, pensions and the NHS and Education budgets are going to have to be cut by 30% and the the Windmill and Overseas Aids departments will need to be scrapped to get rid of the deficit or alternatively byhaving high inflation to do the same. This could all have been avoided if the Conservatives had re-balanced the economy with public spending cuts and tax cuts to get it moving again at the beginning of this Parliament. If after 2015 we have another Liebour or Liebour/LimpDamned coalition, the only good thing will be the party that sowed the seeds of the UK's economic destruction will be there to reap the whirlwind.
Sadly, once this mess is sorted out with Greek, Irish and Portuguese style austerity and hardship. Like these countries with 100+ debt to GDP ratio your children and grandchildren will be paying whatever inflation has not removed back through high taxes.
