Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Sorry for the noobiness.  :-[

Any idea of the length of the bolt and where I can get similar looking ones? Or better still, you got a couple spare?

Machine mart do a decent little kit that got me out of the shit a few ago when a stat cover on my mates focus sheared as I tightened it, 4 different size reverse thread easy outs with the right size drill bits at about £12. Should sort it if it's not too tight

.....

Either way I might try to drill it out next weekend if I can find the courage.

I don't think it'll be very tight. If a bolt is that tight the head shears while removing it, then it 'king tight, but you sheared it putting it in. If you drill it out, be very careful .... tapping size for M6 is 5mm.
Just try to turn it with a small screw driver or pointed scriber before you get the drill out.  :y :y

20 m6 bolts about an inch apart clamp the oil pan in place while the 'glue/sealant' sets.

If it was my car I would gather the parts to fix the bolt next time I took the sump off.

In the meantime I would fill it with oil & drive it.

Should do the trick as long as you drill straight!

Thanks for all the replies.

symes, thanks buddy replied to your PM.

Andies, car is already oiled up and in use but not yet checked if its leaking. Will do this next weekend. I hope it doesnt because I really don't want to do this again. I left the silicone 18 hours to cure and then I disturbed the bolt so it should be ok... but then again it could leak because I disturbed the bolt and the silicone in the process  :-X  I will try Andy Bs suggestion of using a screwdriver to try and turn it. Dont own a scriber, have no idea what one is  ;D  #

Thanks Omego for the link
