Using the omega for a run around at the moment, city driving.

In the old days of auto, there used to be a physical switch under the throttle so when floored the box would drop a cog or two.

What s used on the omega?

Seems about as decisive as a woman in a shoe shop and as quick to change as me getting out of bed in the morning.

There is a switch on the throttle cable. It's just inside the engine bay & tucked away near the scuttle. It just tells the ECU that the pedal is all the way down which in turn will command the autobox ECU to change down if conditions are right.

If there is too much slack in the cable then it can appear not to do anything as all the travel is taking up the slack rather than stretching the cable & operating the switch.

i am not sure about that  the as mine is DBW but you can feel the switch when you floor the acelerator

There's a detent in the throttle sensor that gives a noticeable "click" but there doesn't appear to be any wiring to a switch so it uses the throttle position sensor to detect when to kick down.

Just checked mine when the accelerator pedal is welded to the floor you can feel a switch on the 2.2 & 3.2

Yep on mine i can feel it click too
