Fibre Glass Flat Roof leaky issues. Repair ideas?
« on: 14 May 2013, 19:31:32 »

Been up there this morning and there are some what looks like hairline cracks in a few places, apart from that seems in good condition.

So any recommendations as a fix, Im thinking alone the lines of a brush on resin or similar, not convinced the normal roof sealent will be any good or stick to it.

Cheers Chris.  :y

Isopon make a range of glassfibre fillers for all sorts of applications; the marine P40 might help you for the roof (with rain, I mean).

There is (or used to be anyway) a brush on resin you can get which will fix that up no problem. I cant remember the name of it as its yrs since I've used it but a decent hardware store should be able to help you out. Put plenty on the cracks and surrounding area's and a few coats of it is a good idea. I've used it before to fix gutters and roofs and it hasn't leaked yet, that was around 7-8 yrs ago.

Thanks Matthew, I'll look into that, Marine Filler, suppose if it floods could always use the roof as a boat.  ;)

the roof must be fairly recent?

get the roofer back, it shouldnt leak.

a small glassfibre kit from halfords will fix it, then overpaint to protct it from sunlight.

Roof was re-done with Fibre Glass about 20 years ago, yeas I was surprised it was Fibre Glass, not sure I need the Kit, sort of thinking a top coat or resin filler or something, but thanks I will look at the Kits but guessing not cheap from Halfrauds, wonder if it will be on there Trade thingy?  ;)

if its a large crack would you not be better of applying matting in a tape form with the resin then over painting
