Rear brake pads & shims
« on: 15 May 2013, 10:33:56 »

Hi,

I've purchased a GM rear brake pads set to replace the old ones, it comes with pins, springs and metal shims. The pads have also glued shims so, should i put something between the pads and the metal shims? Cooper grease, double sided tape?

I've read here that it's recommended putting a bit of this grease between the caliper piston and the pads, in the springs, pins, etc.. but between the pads and the shims?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Clean were the pads sit in the calipers with a wire brush, put copperslip on the back of the pads and a smear along the edges, unless you have dressed the edges(i do both prevents pads sticking), and put dobs of copper slip in holes were pins go,.
