ENGINE STOPS UNEXPECTEDLY!!!
« on: 23 May 2013, 15:16:57 »

Hello...
After the replacement of the cam gaskets and cleaning the butterfly valve (even if the mechanic did not advise this clean up...), engine has been behaving so strange especially at the traffic lights. >:(
In addition to the first start at the parking lot; while waiting for the green light, engine stops unexpectedly and does not start at the first cranking. After a few attempts, I usually succeed starting the engine but, unfortunately, since most of the Turkish drivers are not so patient, you can not imagine the honking horns... :-[
Besides, when idle, whenever I attempt to accelerate suddenly like kicking the accelerator pedal, engine stops instead of revving...If I depress slowly, engine behaves normally and stsrts revving...After a successful start, idle is normal like nothing has happened... ???
I guess, I will be the first one who can succeed to have the automatic car stop before the first move at the traffic lights...I may be included in the Guinness World Records soon... :D
So, what are the probable causes for this? :-\
Answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks... :y

If its a V6, I'd suspect crank sensor, dirty ICV or dodgy MAF.  Any codes?

When I drove in Turkey it seemed you had to drive with one hand on the horn all the while  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Often is the crank sensor if V6. Certainly was on mine. Mine completely failed and no start at all. The dash warning light displayed on mine when the fault happened IIRC?

* change this mechanic without hesitation

* agreed above ,its crank sensor .. also before purchasing anything either try paper clip test or have a live tech 2 session.. you may have other small  problems also..

ps: be sure its the correct crank sensor model..

Agreed... :yYou have to have extra abilities while driving here... :-[
Not a proud but, nothing can heal it for now... >:(
No code with the exception of LH side oxygen sensor which I did not want to replace on purpose....
