Depends if you use it as an every day car, Entwoods install was around that cost, he has more than paid it back.

We'll wait for Mr Opti to confirm  ;) but I doubt many 10 yr old 5 liter Mercs are bought to be used as everyday transport.

Nige's gassed Omega is his only car, so will obviously clock the miles up & go towards justifying his gas install

My un-gassed 3.2 (the spare car) clocked up almost 6k in less than a year. If I had gassed it when I got it, be half way to it being paid off.

All I wanted to know was how strong these Merc V8's are in terms of valves, if they need lube and so on. Not the merits of LPG conversion  ::)

Like the CL with LPG, although doubt his claims of Fiat 500 running costs  ::)

Bags of torque and very comfy looking, no pictures of the install though  :-\

That looks like someone has specced a lot of AMG kit on that one, even has the quad exhaust! if that is all factory fit then happy days.  You would want to see a a few MB stamps in the service book and I think I see a bit of rust coming through on the lip of the rear nearside wheel arch, it's the right age to have inherited the dreaded tin worm from the previous CLK model.  If the dealer is knocking it out cheap be suspicious and look for filler in ALL the wheel arches and where the bumpers meet the body panles.  Try not to fall in love as soon as you see it.  All that said if your happy with the car, paperwork and can handle the fuel consumption it's a great car to stick a private plate on and keep the neighbours guessing :)

Mercedes-Benz CLK 500 Avantgarde Convertible
AM53 HAX
76,985 warranted miles
Silver
Offered tomorrow at BCA Blackbushe, with a guide price of £5,300.
Convertible's are worth more

There have been CLK 500's with just over 100,000 going for £2,500 in places, so as retail price that's not a bad car at all, but of course with some careful work, you can get a cheaper one  :y

A friend / customer of mine has a CL55 AMG
After a trip up to jock land last summer at speeds around 90 mph, his mpg worked out at 26.7 mpg which for a car like that is good imo.
Infact, its probably better then my 3.2 Omega  >:(

Problem is, around town or on short journeys, it struggles to get 7 mpg  :(

Gorgeous car though and quick isn't the word for it  ;)

As for the rust, Mercedes have a 10 year anti corrosion warranty BUT the closer it gets to the 10 year mark, the more reluctant the are to sort any problems out  ;)

Agreed. It would be used as a 'weekend toy'

I doubt that I would add more than 2-3000 miles a year to the mileage, so the cost of petrol shouldn't be a problem.

As a sad old bastard the cost of insurance shouldn't be too much of a problem either. :y

However, parts are bound to be expensive, and any one major problem would probably result in a trip to the crusher.

Hmmm......heart says yes......head says no.
