28c upstairs tonight  :o, Think the fans going to be on full blast with ear plugs in. Was around 25c outside today at times.

Ye Gods. Something amiss. We have had days of 35 degC  and 19 at night and our bedroom is only max of 25 DegC . Had the fan running all night again as usual. Quite comfortable. Do you draw the curtains on the sunny side during the day and open all the windows at night? A fan assisting any prevailing breeze might help move air through the house.

Same here - the floor-to-ceiling 7ft by 7ft south facing glass window in the master bedroom doesn't help as it turns the bedroom into a greenhouse, and without a stiff breeze the house has essentially zero airflow through it.

Every summer I've seriously considered getting a proper split unit air conditioner installed upstairs.. even in spring it can be 25+ through sun loading when it's only 17-18C outside.

Adequate loft insulation?  ???   I had mine done recently and on top of the original 100mm or so that was there I've had an extra 300mm installed and it was free!!  :y  I've had to go up there this morning and it's as hot as hell  :o, whereas all the upstairs rooms are fairly cool!  8)

Where I live in a chalet bungalow, I have flat roofs that act like big radiators when the sun is shining. I improved the insulation when I renewed the back roof and will do the same, when I renew the front one. But where the rafters are not very deep and you have to leave an air gap there is always going to be a problem. A neighbour got around this by pitching and tiling the flat roofs.

I leave the windows shut during the day and then open the windows in the evening and use fans to circulate the air. Heat never causes me a problem sleeping, but there again I'm a warm weather person, who hates the cold.

Curtains shut during day with windows open... At night windows closed to prevent flys coming in and it's too noisy when cars go by say 2 or so cars an hour and not forgetting the bloody jackdaw infestation around 4am noisy little black beauties they are.

Had to turn the chiller on last night. Was friggin' hot.

I keep getting alerts that one of my bro's servers is running a tad warm, so we decided to do the right thing...  ...ignore it ;D

Tell you what.

Come and stay with us for some therapy. Been 37deg C most days this week. Jump in the pool, read a book, bit of a doze. Remark on what a lazy bunch the Spanish are. Wake up at 11.00 p.m. when it is just cooler outside than in and say "lets have our evening meal and a beer". It is 29 deg C as I type inside.

In the cool morning (only 33) you can help me barrow materials around and mix concrete!  :y

Then when you get back you can say this is a nice temperature back home.

Good point mate, Provably because 80% of the time it's between 0c and 15c outdoors when we get a heat wave me especially with hayfeever and a skin allergy which reacts worse when hot, I just can't take it  :( might have to move to Canada or Alaska or even Russia  ;D :D

That is what I was doing in the Ukraine at the beginning of May when it was a cooler 34degC in the shade and 50deg+ in the sun.  :y :y :y Apart from having to put on suntan cream late morning to stop myself getting burnt and working in the shade where possible during the peak hours. I enjoyed myself and felt much better for getting a vitamin D boost.  :y :y :y Only slight problem I had was slightly swollen ankles and feet, which disappeared a few days after getting back to the UK.

My wife and her sister really suffer in the heat, where they both don't drink enough fluids and they both suffer from very low blood pressure, her sister at times dangerously so and has to take medicine to boost it. Recently the temperature on the hottest days has been hitting 40degC.

I shall be tending my plants in the greenhouse this weekend and if like last weekend the temperature will be between 35 and 40degC. Outside at 25-30degC feels quite cool afterwards.
