Was going to sell the Omega I picked up, but no one wants it with a gearbox fault, and frankly it doesn't irritate me enough to do anything, it can still be driven.

So, when I can be bothered to replace the gearbox, will an autobox from a prefacelift V6 be a problem on my facelift 2.2?

I've heard it will fit no problems, just wondering if theres a difference in the way the car will drive.

Secondly, I want to update the stereo in the Omega, but have also heard my choices are limited if I want to remain Double DIN sized as most of the Vauxhall range are CAN stereos which restricts my choices.

Ideally I want a standard Vauxhall stereo with Bluetooth/Aux socket but i'm sure i'm not going to get that.

Thirdly, I want to add electric windows to the back as mine is a GLS model.  Both my back doors (ooer!) have issues, one has rust the other has a nasty scrape, so I was just going to source a same colour set of doors with electric windows already fitted, fit a 4 switch pack to the door and possibly a fuse, would that be all thats needed for the back windows to be operational?  Presuming the wiring for the electric windows is all there in the door plug in the pillar.

Also, what models had the BOSE system (another reason for sticking with the Vauxhall stereo), as i've heard that too can be transplanted over.

You might as well just buy an Elite which has all those bits on already, lot easier 

No Vauxhall headunit will fit the Omega which has Aux/Bluetooth.

Bose is out of date really, if its there its nice. But if you want better sounds, there are much better choices for speakers. It also opens the choice of head units massively!

I might as well start the ball rolling as there's a bit of a list, gearbox fault..presuming that it's an auto,first thing to do is service the transmission with new filters and ATF,because invariably that's all that's needed to cure the problem,replacing the transmission is an option that would possibly the last of all choices to be made

That was the first thing that was done

Inspite of it only being a 68000 mile car, its got a towbar and I suspect its been put to lots of use hence the premature failing of the box.

Just occasionally its as if it loses drive and revs up, but if you either select Sport mode or just stick your foot down hard on the accelerator, it regains drive and doesn't cause anymore problems, its a tricky one to diagnose, because I towed a trailer with a Land Rover Discovery for someone and it didn't miss a beat, but the problem can sometimes rear up after 2 miles of driving or 40 miles of driving.

I appreciate that, but lots of the after market stereo surrounds to convert the stereo hole to single DIN are frankly really crappy made.  Toyed with the idea of sticking a DVD screen Double DIN stereo in it, but the shape of the Omega stereos doesn't lend itself to that at all

You can get double din adapters, worth checking Corsa C forums out as they have same style of radio slot.

Retro-fitting Bose involves a lot, entire wiring loom will need to be changed. I have Bose in the 3.2 Elite, in the 2.2 I have an Alpine unit (with steering wheel control converter) with standard speakers.

Yes the Bose is better, more rounded, especially in the back seats. But 9 out of 10 NCDC 20xx units now, will have shagged lasers, thanks to CD-R's. However the Alpines sounds are not bad, if I upgraded the speakers I think it would easily be on very close par to Bose.

Changing NCDC's laser is a seriously specialist job, very few will attempt it, fewer still will do it right.

Also Top CD player always would read disc, so most of those are feked too, meaning Sat Nav's rarely work. Mine does, *just* but its not long for this world.

Electric rear windows will also require the drivers door loom replacing Hit and miss as to whether the loom is fitted from the dash to the B posts for the rear doors Easy enough to fit

Maybe easier but certainly not cheaper.  My Omega now has a years MOT and all in it owes me 200 quid

Excellent price, just upgrade speakers you have then, along with new head unit.

Picked up an R reg 3.0 v6 Elite today, been stood up three years with head gasket failure.......fired up first turn of the key and drove onto the truck 

Unfortunately its not viable to put back on the road, but want to utilise bits of it for my 2.2 facelift,

I don't fancy putting the entire Bose system in, but will the speakers be a first replacement?

Guessing the leather won't fit and the xenon lights won't be a straight fit.

I also don't want to waste this car and want anyone interested in bits to let me know, will all be cheap.

bose speakers are no use without the rest of the system.

the leather wont fit as yours has S.I.P.S in the seats.
