We are world leaders in aeronautical (wings, landing gear, engines, control etc etc etc), electrical control (AC drives, control, generators, motors etc), automotive, many areas of software, IC design (ARM but to name a few), renewables the list goes on!

Indeed, 126mph, but it wrecked it's motion in the process.  However it was a great coup for Sir Nigel Gresley and the LNER in general :y :y :y

There seems to have been a bit more mid-week activity on the line so far this week. A few carriageless loco's of the steam & diseasal flavour going up & down the line.

Indeed Mark, and the method being used to build the new Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carriers is proof of that.............the Astute Class of Submarines...........along with the Crossrail Project............the Shard.............the Airbus A380.........and numerous day to day engineering projects around the land :D :D :y :y

Oh, and not forgetting the HS2 project to come!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Mention of the HS2 reminded me.The budget estimate has gone approx. £8 billion over the original budget and they haven't even started yet.  We are still great at engineering, but we also have a habit of wasting lots of money on white elephants (particularily when politicians get involved) and this will almost certainly be another one. ::)

If that's the one with a stepped down nose at each I've seen it.  ;)
