A sad day in the LD household
« on: 17 July 2013, 21:59:45 »

Some of you will remember that we have a pretty little cat called Princess Aura. She celebrated her 16th birthday earlier this week but has suddenly gone blind in one eye. A trip to the vets today has revealed that she has a tumour on the back of that eye and it is creating huge pressure. It is with much sadness we made the tough decision to take her on her final trip to the vets on Friday morning before it gets much worse :'( :'( The only comfort is that it has come on very quickly... 36 hours ago she was fine.

Here's a little picture... One of many and how we plan to remember her :y

Very hard to say goodbye though :'( We have another 36 hours with her company and, typically, she's more sprightly than ever now she's spaced out on Tramadol!

I am so very sorry .
We lost our Snow Leopard , Leo ,to a stomach tumor  in January after 15 years with us and it was a very sad day . I wish you all the strength to get through the next few days .

The worst thing is that I have to go out all day tomorrow, otherwise I'd take her tomorrow.

It'll certainly put a downer on going to my sisters wedding this weekend ::)

Sorry the hear this, a terrible shock to you both....... :( :(

We know we will have to face a similar situation at some point in the future with both the cat and the dog as they are both aging, we thought we were going to lose the dog a few months ago to the point of actually preparing Miss Vamps for the event, thankfully she pulled through....

It's a very difficult decision to have to make.

A few years ago we had to have our 16yr cat put down, a horrible thing to have to do. And as per the kittens thread our 12yr old cat had to be put down last Friday. I'm a soft bugger & cried on both occasions.  :-X :-X

What an awful situation  :(

I have a lovely cat who's getting on a bit, I'm already dreading the day he leaves us, and I hope it'll be painless and quick when it does.

Sorry to hear this LD

Sorry to hear your bad news, it is always difficult when it is time to say the final goodbye to a pet. They are part of the family so you feel the loss, like you would any family member.  :'(

Be strong and try to think about all of the good times and the pleasure that you have brought into each others lives.  :'(

So very sorry to read this, after the trauma with Niblet which is on going, I feel for you. Any pet becomes part of the family and its loss is terrible, but to do the right thing by them is a kindness for the love they have given you over the years. :y :'( :'( :'(

we've all  been there ,   and we all know how much it hurts.....     softy or not, it's a bereavement that pains the heart for a long time,   you'llm miss her, and no other cat will ever quite be the same...      our deepest sympathies.....

we've lost 2 such dear friends in the last 18 months,  GT and Gizmo,   GT of old age, (easily 18 maybe a tad older)    Gizmo due to complications from a,  not spotted early enough , urinary tract blockage...    poor lad didn't survive the surgery , heart failure ..... only 6 years old....  taken far too soon,  and he was such an affectionate and unique character....    (pillow stealing was a favourite sport.... always mine, never the wife's....   )

yes, I cried.....    no i'm not ashamed of it.....  it's a natural function that helps us deal with unbearable pain of any sort....
