Sorry, are you suggesting the insurers are expecting the rubble from the building to be cleared...
...but NOT the contents of the garage among the rubble?
That seems to be the case, yes. Unfortunately, we have just one contact for our insurance, and he is nigh on impossible to get hold of. And he dropped the bombshell that his contractors were unable to do the clearup at 6pm last night, along with an additional bombshell that he was on leave next week.
The implication is his contractors (the ones that have now said they can't do the clearup) need to be onsite at the same time as the rubble clearers. So you know how impossible that is going to be to arrange. The trouble is, the requirements change every time you speak to the insurance guy.
Now to further complicate matters, my insurance company do not want to liase with my neighbour's insurance company, for reasons that do not get a response when queried, so it looks like we (neighbour and I) have to get our bits of the clearup done seperately, without disturbing anything on the other side. Precisely how that is possible is, again, beyond me.
I can't help but feel its all a stalling game. We'll be 3 weeks in before he'll even see any quotes for clear up, then probably a week or 2 before that can be approved and start, then a couple of weeks for rebuild quotes, then a month or more to rebuild (it may need planning permission to rebuild as it was, so maybe 2-3 months). I can see this dragging in to next year.
In the meantime, I can't get the contents replaced, as we have nowhere to store them.
To say I'm extremely pissed off does not do it justice
