My VX dealer quoted £520 including a new water pump.

After pleading poverty we agreed on £330 including a new water pump.......which I think is reasonable.

Be prepared to haggle, Mr Webby. :y

no need to mate. i'm doing mine myself and saving around £600!!!!!!

i only rang them just to see what the price would be out of interest. when i had it done exactly 4 years ago it was what rob said... £415

With the last Omega being more than ten years old, some Vauxhall mechanics, especially the younger ones, are not familiar with them. :-\ :-\

" What is it mate?"

"A Vauxhall Omega"

"Sorry mate, I ain't never fixed nuffin newer than one of them Insignia things.......Is it front wheel drive?"

And the dealers wonder why people go to independent garages or try doing the jobs themselves etc  ::)  :o

I'm guessing more than half of that quote is labour charges  >:(

I've no idea what TIS says the labour time is, but you could easily have the job in a couple of hours. Even at £100 per hour it still shouldn't come to much more than about £300

I can easily see them trumping up the parts cost to another £300 so there we are, I suppose. ::)

3 hours when I last asked at Vauxhall dealers. These guys are old school Vauxhall so they know they can do it quicker but that's what the time-sheet says guvnor.  :y

Prob not far off standard Audi service, given £100hr labour plus parts at retail it's to be expected.

All dealers are super expensive

Not just cars, I was looking at bike servicing near my new place, they quoted good prices for tyres fitted, but check out their service costs:

http://www.bldgroup.co.uk/service-repairs/motorcycle-service/

£330 for oil change and some coolant  :o

Mine does not need coolant, so that's £330 for an oil change and a check over  ::)

Makes Vauxhall look cheap!
